Getting Started

When the program starts, the Select Simulation dialog box is displayed.  Select a simulation.   The Control Panel window is then displayed.  Select the Problem button to get a description of the problem. Click F1 at any time to get context sensitive help.

Begin the exercise by selecting targets/levels for the inputs.  Then push the Single Trial button to generate a small set of data.  This corresponds to testing a single prototype or performing a short run on a process   Do this as many times as you like.  Once you are confident that you have the optimal set of targets/levels, push the Capability Study button.  This generates a more extensive set of data that corresponds to testing multiple units of product or running the process over a more extensive period of time.  The program keeps track of the number of trials and the number of capability studies you used to obtain your result.  This allows you to compare both the results obtained and the amount of data collected with other students and with other optimization strategies.

More advanced features include the ability to generate data for designed experiments and to perform maintenance in order to tighten tolerances for the inputs.
