Select New/Matching Sampling Plans Dialog Box

This dialog box is used to select new sampling plans based on the desired protection (AQL and LTPD).  It is also used to select matching sampling plans providing the same protection as the selected sampling plan.  In this case the characteristic, AQL and LTPD are automatically set to that of the selected sampling plan.  The following options must be specified:

Characteristic to Inspect:  Select the appropriate characteristic.

Types of Sampling Plans:  You can select more than one type of sampling plan.  A sampling plan of each of the selected types will be generated.  Click the button to select all types.  Click the button to unselect all types.

AQL:  The actual AQL of the selected sampling plans will be greater than or equal to the value specified.

Max AQL:  This is an optional parameter that can be used to specify an upper bound for the AQL of the selected sampling plans.  The actual AQL of the selected sampling plans will be less than or equal to the Max AQL.  Can be an expression and include the variable AQL.  For Example: "1.2*AQL".

LTPD:  The actual LTPD of the selected sampling plans will be less than or equal to the value specified.

Adjustment:  One can specify that the requirements for the AQL and LTPD be relaxed by up to 10%.  This results in the AQL and LTPD entered being interpreted as approximate values rather than exact values.  The actual requirements for the AQL and LTPD are displayed in blue on the right side of the dialog box.

ASN versus Cost Radio Buttons:  When selecting some types of sampling plans such as double sampling plans, numerous sampling plans exist satisfying the restrictions on the AQL and LTPD.  Of these, the least expensive plan is selected.  To determine this plan, you must select whether to minimize the ASN or Cost.

At p:  Specifies the point at which to minimize the ASN or Cost curve.  If an estimate of the process average is available, it should be entered here.  Otherwise, an guesstimate is required.  Can be an expression and include the variables AQL, LTPD, LQ, RQL, and UQL.  For Example: "AQL/2".

Units:  Units for measuring characteristic.  For the characteristics Defective Units and Defects per Unit, the units can only be changed using the Units for Defective Units and Defects Per Unit dialog box.  In all other cases you can type in the appropriate units.

Once the options have been specified, click the Select button or press the Enter key to select the sampling plans.  An error message will be displayed in any input is in error.  In which case, you should correct the error and try again.  Otherwise, the dialog will close and the newly selected plans will be displayed at the end of the list in the List Sampling Plans window.  Clicking the Cancel button or pressing the Esc key instead closes the dialog box without selecting any sampling plans.

This dialog box is displayed by clicking either the Select New Plan or Match Protection buttons on the  List Sampling Plans window.  There are also corresponding menu items on the Plans menu and buttons on the toolbar. The two buttons cause the dialog box to be initialized differently.  The Select New Plan button causes the dialog box to reappear exactly as it was the last time it was displayed.  The Match Protection button causes the characteristic, AQL and LTPD to be set to match the sampling plan selected in the List Sampling Plans window.  If no plan is currently selected, an error message is displayed.
